A simple warm up exercise shouldn't be taken for granted. A little time should be allotted for warm ups before each basketball game to help prepare the muscles and increase the ability of the body to perform at it's best. When taken for granted it can hurt the basketball players and may even cause injuries. Everybody should do themselves a favor and warm up properly. There was an interesting study on stress management called the Stress Inoculation training. In this training, the basketball athletes were exposed to minimal, initial doses of stress until they gradually underwent heightened introduction of stresses. This study wanted to prove that immunity from stress might be achieved. Perhaps a good source of ‘stress’ would be the rigors of basketball training itself.
